American University Model United Nations Conference
A U M U N C IV
March 29th - April 1st
Washington, D.C.
“Real Problems, Real Constrictions, Real Solutions, Your Diplomacy”
Hello,
I would like to begin by thanking you for your interest in the American University Model United Nations Conference 2012. Since the close of our 2011 Conference, the Secretariat has been working tirelessly to ensure that our 2012 conference continues the expansion of delegates, competitiveness and enthusiasm that we have seen over the past three years.
At AUMUNC, we are devoted to providing a conference experience that is both challenging and educational for every student. For AUMUNC 2012, we have taken pride in a new initiative to further challenge delegates with complicated debate topics and high standards for the results produced. We look to promote the definition of diplomacy given by Dean Acheson that diplomacy is not merely communication, but the contentment of all parties in the agreements reached. This is true diplomacy.
This year, AUMUNC is pleased to offer a variety of new and exciting committees that are sure to challenge our delegates and truly test their understanding of history, international relations, and the geopolitics of the modern world. Included in this year’s conference will be an exciting collection of both General Assembly and Crisis Committees.
Our General Assembly committees will be composed of a wide variety of countries (with interests sure to be diverse for a rousing debate). GA committees will be a test of a delegate’s leadership skills, negotiation abilities, and above all, consensus building efforts.
As you may know (but may not), crisis committees are similar to General Assembly committees but different in that they begin with an incident and continue to have events unfold during the course of the conference. Crisis committees should provide a vigorous challenge to the experienced delegate. However, enthusiastic new delegates will find this experience rewarding and gratifying.
On behalf of the staff of AUMUNC 2012, I invite you to attend AUMUNC 2012, and extend my service to any questions, concerns or comments you may have.
Sincerely,
Joel Antwi
Secretary General , AUMUNC 2012

Keynote Speakers
More than the fast paced diplomatic action, more than the hand cramps from resolution drafting, more than the thrilling delegate dance or those Sunday invasion of those next door committees... We KNOW that your favorite part of MUN is always those keynote speakers. The AUMUNC staff is currently searching for the best speaker we can find, scouring high to low, opening every door of the School of International Service and checking under the tables of the school cafeteria for that special someone to welcome you to AUMUNC 2012. It's like looking for Waldo... but harder. No worries. We'll find them.
